What Thermage is
Thermage FLX is a non-invasive radiofrequency treatment for loose skin and wrinkles. The handpiece delivers controlled heat deep into the dermis, where collagen gives skin its structure. Existing collagen contracts straight away and the skin is prompted to build new collagen over the following months, so the result is a gradual tightening that looks natural rather than done.
The treatment works on the surface of intact skin. There are no needles and no incisions. Built-in cooling protects the outer skin while the energy is delivered, and a gentle vibration makes each pulse easier to tolerate. Most people have a single session and return to their day straight after.
Areas Thermage treats
Face and jawline
Softens lines and tightens mild to moderate looseness along the cheeks, lower face and jawline, for a firmer contour without surgery.
Eyes
A dedicated eye tip treats fine lines and mild to moderate laxity around the eyes, including the eyelids, with protective eye shields in place throughout.
Neck and decolletage
Smooths crepey texture and tightens mild laxity on the neck and upper chest.
Abdomen
Improves loose or crepey skin after pregnancy, weight change or ageing. It tightens skin; it does not treat separated muscles or remove fat.
Arms
Addresses mild looseness and crepey skin on the upper arms.
Thighs and knees
Improves skin looseness and uneven texture above the knees and on the thighs.
Buttocks
May be considered for mild laxity and uneven texture. It does not add volume.
Hands
May be considered for crepey skin on the backs of the hands. Evidence for this area is more limited, which the doctor explains at your consultation.
The right area and tip are confirmed at your consultation, where the doctor also explains anything that falls outside the standard device guidance.

How a Thermage session works
1. Consultation: the doctor assesses skin laxity, medical history, implants and previous treatments, and takes photographs so change can be measured. The consultation is free.
2. Treatment: a treatment grid is applied, then the handpiece delivers brief pulses of radiofrequency across the area. Each pulse feels hot for a moment, with cooling before and after. Sessions take 30 to 90 minutes depending on the area.
3. Results: some tightening is visible early. Collagen rebuilds gradually, with the main change appearing over two to six months. Results typically last one to two years, and a yearly reassessment decides whether a repeat session is worthwhile.

Why patients choose Thermage Clinic

Harley Street: treated at 130 Harley Street, London, W1G 7JU, a CQC registered clinic.
Free consultation: an honest assessment of whether Thermage, another treatment or no treatment is right for you.
Whole-service clinic: if a different approach suits you better, from ultrasound tightening to injectables, the same team provides it.
Who Thermage suits
Thermage suits adults with mild to moderate skin looseness who want a firmer, smoother look without surgery or downtime. Skin condition matters more than age. Because radiofrequency does not target pigment, it can be considered across all skin tones.
It is not the right treatment for substantial excess skin, which needs a surgical approach, and it is not a weight-loss or fat-removal treatment. Treatment is deferred during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Pacemakers, implanted defibrillators and other implanted electrical devices rule it out. Metal implants in the treatment area, dental work and previous fillers must be disclosed so the doctor can assess suitability and sequencing.

Device choice depends on anatomy, concern, treatment depth and medical suitability. The doctor recommends the treatment that fits, whichever device that is.
Pricing
Your consultation is free. Thermage pricing depends on the area and the tip used, and is confirmed in writing at your consultation before anything is booked. Price match on a like-for-like written quote from a UK clinic.
After your treatment
Most people go straight back to normal activities. Redness usually settles within a day; mild swelling or tenderness can last a few days. Gentle cleansing, moisturiser and a broad-spectrum sunscreen are all that is needed. Contact the clinic promptly about blistering, increasing pain, marked swelling or any change in sensation, and urgently about any visual symptom after an eye-area treatment.
Risks and side effects
Temporary redness, swelling and tenderness are common and short-lived. Less common effects include burns, blistering, pigment change, small lumps or contour irregularities, and temporary numbness or tingling. The doctor goes through the risks that apply to you at the consultation, and treatment settings are guided by your feedback throughout.
Thermage questions answered
No. It uses radiofrequency energy, not light, to heat the deeper skin, so it can be considered for all skin tones after an individual assessment at your consultation.
Each pulse feels hot for a moment and some people find it uncomfortable. Cooling, vibration and adjusting the settings to your feedback keep it manageable, and no anaesthetic injections are needed.
Usually one. Further treatment is decided at a reassessment, typically after a year.
Some tightening shows early. The main change builds over two to six months as new collagen forms.
Typically one to two years, although response varies and skin keeps ageing. A yearly review decides whether a repeat session is worthwhile.
No. It gives a modest, natural tightening in suitable patients. Substantial excess skin needs surgery.
No. Thermage treats skin looseness and wrinkles, not fat.
Yes, with the dedicated eye tip and protective eye shields, after an assessment of the eye area.
Tell the doctor about every previous treatment. Timing and suitability are assessed individually, because treatment over fillers is not studied.
Very little. Most people return to work the same day. Redness usually settles within a day, and mild swelling or tenderness can last a few days.
